CodeLobster PHP free edition can easily compete with paid tools like Microsoft Expression, Dreamweaver etc. You can think it as an alternative of Dreamweaver. I really enjoyed this free IDE which comes with features like PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript highlighting, advanced PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript autocomplete, Powerful PHP debugger, SQL autocomplete, Context and Dynamic Help and much more.

Type few first characters of functions or tags and a pop-up will arrive with a bunch of reference just like Dreamweaver. A timesaver indeed. And don’t forget the auto complete feature which really lower down structural error in code. If you have XAMPP or WAMP install then you can easily preview your PHP file within program window.

The debugger even config your php.ini file to suit the need. There is a magic toolbar too which allow you to do many coding work with just clicks. You can set hyperlink, insert images, insert table and much more with this magic toolbar. Remember, this IDE don’t have WYSIWYG editor but with magic toolbar you won’t miss that much.

CodeLobster PHP Edition is purely designed for coder and it works that way. The free edition is enough to do the job but if you are involved working on any of the following platform then I encourage you to buy the premium.

Codelobster , never heard of that but features sound promising .
no mac or Linux version is what s putting me off . wount install Windows for trying a php editor

I’ve never used Codelobster, but I think that I will give a try, right now I am using NetBeans and Aptana, but I see that CodeLobster support many more frameworks.
