A free screen capture tool that come with a basic editor. A good alternative of any paid screen capture software
In past I shared 14 Free powerful Screen Capture with Editor tools, most of those still available with an update. Now, here is another free software known as VeryPDF ShareShot that can easily enter the league.
VeryPDF ShareShot let you capture your screen 3 ways – capture region, capture window and capture full screen. Another cool thing is, it can capture the last region which is pretty helpful to create an animated GIF image from captured images.
Once you complete a screen capture, the captured image will be opened in an editor where you can insert textboxes, draw arrows or insert shapes according to your needs. After completing your task, you can save it in a file, copy image to clipboard, print it or share it in your favorite social network such as Facebook and Twitter.
VeryPDF ShareShot assign keyboard hotkeys that help you to do job faster. The default setting is ok but you can always change it using ‘Quick settings’ or ‘Settings…’ option. Quick settings have 3 basic option that can also be found in Settings section – Screenshot destination, Print options and Effects. Here is an overview of Quick setting functions:
Screen Destinations
- Share screenshot online
- Open in image editor (default)
- Copy to clipboard
- Save to preferred folder [very good option to choose when you need to capture only screens]
- Prompt dialog to save as
- Send to printer
Print options
- Shrink printout to fit paper size
- Enlarge printout to fit paper size
- Rotate printout to page orientation
- Center printout on page
Effects
- Play camera sound (default)
- Show flashlight
You need to visit main setting section to set default storage location and file format (JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP). The default file saving format is PNG. If you planning to save in JPEG format, then you can control quality of JPEG through Setting section.
VeryPDF ShareShot indeed very good free alternative of paid tool like Techsmith Snagit. It can fulfill all basic screen capturing needs.
