    Thanks for the update…

OFF TOPIC: what is your current web host…, ?

I used Windows Movie Maker before and I liked it because it’s easy to edit the video clips. But for some reason, I stopped using it because hubby started using another program for video editing. It is called Vegas, don’t know if you’re familiar with it.

The new Windows Movie Maker is great but I guess if you are looking for more flexibility and power, you need to cash out some bucks to upgrade to Adobe Premiere products

@Rajech: This blog hosted in india.to

@Marlene: Vegas, the name is new to me.

@Michael Aulia: You are right. That’s why I use Techsmith Camtasia Studio.

Thanks dude. This saved my live. I was so angry that Microsoft didn’t put WMM in Windows 7. Thanks once again :)

    • Bevin Chu says on January 29, 2010

      Dear Benjamin,

Microsoft has flakcatchers assigned to field complaints about WLMM.

Windows 7 users have been telling them they want the timeline feature in WMM2 and WMM6 restored in WLMM.

But these flakcatchers shine everybody on. They pretend to listen, but do nothing.

      Unbelievable.

Oh thank, i try it and it works, really thanks, i’m so happy.:D

But i have one probelm: When i encode my movies, i can’t encode it in HD (1280*720) 720p or 1080p. I work of course on Windows 7.

    Anyone has the same problem?

Thank you! This works for me on Windows 7! I tried Windows Live Movie Maker and the quality is just not as good as the Vista Movie Maker Version 6. So I am so excited to have the Vista version back.
What I found that works for me in Windows 7:
    1. Create your movie as you would in Vista Movie Maker, adding your media files, effects and transitions. Remember not to move the location of any media files that you are using for your movie. If you move the location of the files, the program won’t be able to find them when creating the movie. When you open the movie again you will hav an X over the file. You can click on the X to locate the file again.
    2. Save your file. Save your file before you Publish your movie. If you remember, Vista automated all this for you, saved your file, opened DVD Maker and added your movie file. You have to do it yourself now.
    3. Select- Publish your movie to Your Computer. This saves your movie as a file that can be added to Windows DVD Maker. Make sure you make note of where you are saving your file. I found that it does not work if you publish to DVD as you did in Vista. For some reason it deletes everything in timeline and storyboard if you select- publish to DVD- the file is not supported in DVD Maker. So do not select Publish to DVD.
There are various formats that you can select when publishing to you computer: Best quality for this computer or make a selction from the drop down menu for DV-Avi, Widescreen etc. Make the selction that suits your needs.
    4. Once the movie is published to your computer, Open Windows DVD Maker and Select -Add Items. Locate your file. It will be the file name that you saved your movie as with 001 after the file name. Mine showed up with an extension 001. When locating your file, you may have to select -View all files- in the drop down box, in order to see your movie file. Select your movie to add it to the Windows DVD Maker. In a short time you will see your file in the DVD Maker. You cannot load the saved movie file, you must load the file you Published to Your Computer in Windows DVD Maker.
    5. Select -Options- if you want to change the format 16:9 or 4:3 and whether you want to loop the video or have the Menu at the beginning or end of the show.
    6. Click Next and customize your menu.
    7. When you have everything as you want, put in a blank DVD and select burn….then wait for your masterpiece to be completed!
Just another quick note, Have you ever had the problem of only seeing a black screen when creating your movie? Seems like it just disappeared? I found that I had a major overlap in the timeline. Expand the timeline as far as it can go and look to the overlap that is causing the black screen. It worked for me and my movie reappeared.

    You are welcome!
And Thank you again for posting this Movie Maker Installer. I tried a different Movie Maker installer program for Win 7 from another site and it had a Trojan in it.

I had no problems with the installer that is linked here and had the program up and running in minutes. How wonderful!

I use this for basic editing things that i don’t know how to use on sony vegas (because it is awfully confusing and they’ve renamed everything, like panning is called some other harjymarjy or whatever). Anyway’s THANX 4 THE UPLOAD!
