Google & Skype both are ready to help with their voice services. Both companies offering free calls to Haiti but is that offer really worth now?

It usual that after that powerful earthquake no communication system will look stable anywhere. So, do you think telecommunication system are available over there?

…a United Nations Foundation worker told us this afternoon that the communication systems in Haiti were essentially unusable. It appears that the two companies have just joined the category of “awfully nice, generous, but somewhat impractical” ideas.

Skype’s blog post on the subject starts off by pointing out that “many people in Haiti are without landline or cell phone coverage since the earthquake.” If this is true, the same must be said for the Internet in Haiti.

U.N. Foundation have teams on the ground trying to set up satellite communications systems. And that look only best telecommunication method to contact someone from Haiti.

So,both Google’s and Skype’s offer look like a publicity stunt or just a show off as no one able to use it at all. If they extend this offer till the situation look stable then that will really make this offer useful and not just a show off. We have to wait to know what both of this company going to do, what they have in their corporate mind.
