Recently when I surfing, I found an interested contest. The blogger actually put some sentence which is unknown to me when I first look it and ask which that language is? Don’t be excited, I don’t win the game, there are several other who actually detect the language before me. On that time, I realize their are many people around the world have the same question. I know there is Google translator which we can use to translate a page or text. However most of us go to there after identifying the language what we want to translate to another language. We don’t try to use the full potential of Google Translator. I never try to know the language when I translate a page as Firefox gifted me a good plugin FoxLingo which automatically translate a page. However, If you want to detect any language then here is some free tool, which will help you to detect or guess a language.

1. Google Translator: This is perhaps most used translator tool around the web. It helps you to translate an entire webpage or some text. However you can use it to detect any language. Here is a screenshot:

2. Ruphus Identifier Tool: This is another great tool which help you to guess any language online. However they need  250 characters to guess well. However I tried it with 92 characters and its work fine.

3. What Language Is This: This is another good website which going to help you to detect a language. Just type the text on inbox and it will detect it. It have ajax support, so just paste and it will detect it if you using major browsers. However it only able to detect languages which it support. Currently it support 53 language.

4. Xerox Identifier: This is another beautiful tool. You will get more accurate result if you type more.

5. Google Language API: This is not a translator it only detect a language. As always this Google product give you most reliable result.

6. Polyglot 3000: This is a desktop identifier. It able to detect more than 400 language. It supports Unicode text and you can make your own list for popular language check.
