How to prevent accidental Shutdown crash in Windows

Accidental power button push is very harmful sometime. Earlier today my little sister came my room, I am doing small chit-chat with her while I am writing when she accidentally push my CPU power button and I lost my article. I have a habit of writing article in notepad and then check it grammar and spelling using a software. And I yet not able to discover any trick which can make me able to recover that file. Anyway the point is how we can prevent such danger?

By default Windows ( I am using XP) shut down itself when we push power button however Microsoft give us the flexibility to use that feature in our own way. All you need to follow those steps which I am going to describe below:

1. Right click on desktop and go to “Properties“. ( I know there are many ways to go in Properties section)

2. Open the “Screen Saver” tab and look for the “Power” button on bottom of the window. Click on it.

3. From the “Power Option Properties” choose “Advanced” and near the bottom you will see a drop down menu, choose “Ask me what to do

recover-power-2

4. Click Ok

Now, whenever the power button push, it come with an asking window. So you are safe now.  Just a reminder this trick will not work with restart button.
