Reduce Memory Eating Of Firefox When Minimized
Firefox is great browser indeed. And the best thing is it is an open source. I love this browser not only for speed but also for the flexibility it’s give with its plug in. But now some of my friends and also internet mate ask me why Firefox use so much memory when it is minimized. As when it is minimized it is temporary inactive. If you have the similar question then please read this Knowledge Base on Mozila’s knowledge base site.
Here is an instruction how you can reduce this memory use.
Type about:config into your address bar, hit Enter, and confirm to your browser that you’ll be careful messing with your configuration. Unless you’ve performed this specific change before, right-click somewhere outside all those period-separated values and choose New/Boolean. In the window that pops up, enter config.trim_on_minimize and hit OK, then select “True” in the next dialog. Close out your about:config window, restart Firefox, and you’re now demanding that Firefox give up some of that sweet, sweet RAM when it’s not even showing on your desktop.
But if you happy with your current speed then don’t try this. This will make Firefox slow when it’s maximized again and may create some bugs too.
